About Glowing Ember
Helping you move forward - with warmth, flexibility, and purpose
Hi,
I’m Rachel Rutherford, a Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist and the founder of Glowing Ember.
I’m passionate about helping people feel better, live more freely, and make real, lasting changes in their lives.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply not where you want to be, I offer support that meets you exactly where you are.
I believe therapy should feel like a warm, safe space — a place where you can pause, reflect, and reconnect with your strengths. But it’s also a space for growth. Just like glowing embers can be gently stoked into a steady, powerful flame, I’m here to help you rediscover your spark and move toward your full potential — whatever that looks like for you.
My Approach
I created Glowing Ember to offer something different: support that adapts to you — your life, your brain, and your goals.
Sessions are person-centred, flexible, and collaborative. You’re never just a list of symptoms or a problem to be solved — you’re a whole person, with strengths, experiences, and values. I’ll always treat you that way.
Together, we’ll explore what matters to you, gently challenge what’s getting in the way, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.
I work with warmth and compassion, but also with energy and momentum. I love helping people get clear on what they want and take real, achievable steps forward — one spark at a time.
Who I work with
Glowing Ember is for adults who are ready for something to shift — whether that means managing anxiety, building confidence, making decisions, or finally tackling the life admin that’s been weighing you down.
If you’re living with a long-term health condition, disability, or ADHD, I offer practical and compassionate support that fits you. I also aim to create a space where members of the LGBT+ community can feel fully at home — welcomed, respected, and free to be themselves.
Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and understood. That’s what I strive to offer.
My professional background
I’m a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
I also have a background in Occupational Therapy, which gives me a practical, whole-person perspective on how people function in their day-to-day lives.
I combine evidence-based techniques with creativity, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s individual journey. I’m especially passionate about helping people turn insight into action — and I’ll be with you every step of the way.
